JEREMY YUDKIN

Jeremy has been teaching at Tanglewood every summer since 1983. He is a professor of music at Boston and Oxford universities, and his interests are wide and varied. He teaches courses on everything from medieval music to the music of the Beatles and is an expert on Beethoven and Bartok. Jeremy has written 8 books: on medieval music and manuscripts, on a sixteenth-century music primer, and on jazz. He is also the author of one of the best-selling college music appreciation books, which reaches 20,000 students a year across North America.

He founded the Summer Music Seminars to create a place for music listeners to learn. Every year his seminars discuss the background and the inner workings of the music played at the Tanglewood concerts. He is a compelling, lively, and friendly speaker. Participants rave about the experience. No musical expertise is required to attend the seminars: Jeremy's favorite comment about his Summer Music Seminars: "All you need is willing ears and a love of music!"
